Penfield Lacrosse Timeline

1975

The Penfield Lacrosse program began as a club sport playing an independent schedule.  Thanks to a group of hardworking parents, fund raising, the loan of equipment from Penfield Recreation and the use of PHS Facilities the program kicked off.

Penfield had 26 players on the first JV Team.  Their record was 7-3.  Former Hobart College Attackman Tom Mutch led the program and went on to serve as the Varsity coach for 13 years.

1976

Penfield joined the Monroe County Lacrosse League. The parents supported the team for the next five years, until the program became an official school sport.

During the early years the team managed to post wining records or finish close to .500%. Without a Modified program until the mid-Eighties, Penfield often struggled against the more experienced County teams, but did record some upsets and had an excellent non-league record.

There were many Monroe County All-League selections during this time and the teams qualified for four (4) Section V Tournaments, a credit to everyone involved.

What does the #19 signify in the Penfield Lacrosse logo?
The #19 is used in the memory of Todd Bernhardt, a lacrosse player from Penfield who lost his life at too young an age.
