PENFIELD YOUTH LACROSSE
PARENT "QUICK INFO" PAGE

  • If you do nothing else, read the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PAGE!

  • This website is the MAIN COMMUNICATIONS TOOL. You will not typically receive individual emails - please check the website often.

  • ALL BOYS IN THE 5TH/6TH GRADE PROGRAM MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT!

  • Boys in the 5th/6th grade may be subject to limited playing time in games - see the FAQ page listed above for "interested participation" rules. Lacrosse at the boys 5th/6th level is NOT a game where participants can stand around. See our stance on playing time.

  • PYL needs parent volunteers! We have needs in the following areas:

    • Our May "Cinqo de Laxo" event for PYL at the Penfield High School - we need volunteers! email Jim Malloy to volunteer.

    • Team snack managers (ensure halftime and postgame snacks covered)

    • PYL trophies

    • PYL season ending parties

  • Where do we play? Currently (through 2007) we play and practice at Greenwood Park. Current plans may have us moving to Rothfuss Park in spring of 2008.

  • When is spring registration? Registration usually runs from January 1 to March 1.

  • If my son is in 4th grade or below and is eligible to borrow PYL equipment - how much will it cost and when/where do we pick it up?

  • When do practices start?

  • What about weather cancellations and delays?

  • Our first weekend of games is typically the last Saturday in April.

  • Our last game(s) are at the Fairport Lacrosse Classic, usually the 2nd weekend in June.

  • PYL games are scheduled and re-scheduled ON THE FLY. You must check all online schedules often. You must remain flexible and expect that games will be scheduled or re-scheduled at the last minute. It is the nature of the beast.

  • What about holidays and the school break? Good Friday, the school break and Memorial Day weekend all fall during the PYL season. PLEASE LET YOUR COACH KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WHAT DAYS YOU WILL MISS.

  • Our spring season wraps up with a combination party/equipment return where all of our PYL participants (boys and girls) meet together at Greenwood Park. Date is TBD annually.

  • Any further questions please ask your coaching staff.

What does the #19 signify in the Penfield Lacrosse logo?
The #19 is used in the memory of Todd Bernhardt, a lacrosse player from Penfield who lost his life at too young an age.
