SUMMER YOUTH LACROSSE

bullet

YOUTH LACROSSE PLAYED IN THE SUMMER IS NOT RUN BY NOR SANCTIONED BY PENFIELD YOUTH LACROSSE.

bullet

Summer teams are formed by interested parents and/or coaches, they are NOT formed by PYL.

bullet

Summer teams do not have access to PYL equipment. You must supply your own equipment.

bullet

Summer teams are not allowed to call themselves "PYL" or "Penfield Youth Lacrosse". They must supply their own uniforms if desired.

bullet

Summer lacrosse is typically tournament-only (very few practices). From time to time there is a summer league as well.

bullet

Summer lacrosse is VERY competitive and typically involves only the advanced players.

bullet

These are not PYL teams, they may or may not be run like PYL teams. Your child may get a lot of playing time, not much playing time, may play only one position or you may play four positions. It is completely up to the coaching staff how the team is run.

bullet

Rosters are completely at the discretion of the coaching staff. Coaches will invite players they feel are a good fit for the team based on talent, availability and attitude. The only players "guaranteed" a spot are the coaches kids.

bullet

There may or may not be a "formal tryout". Again, if the coaching staff knows which players they would like to invite, it will not be a public event. There may be a public tryout for some teams. It is totally at the discretion of the coaching staff.

bullet

Any parent wishing to take on the task is welcome to form a team!

bullet

Do not be discouraged if you are not invited to play with a team. This typically means the coaching staff feels you are not ready yet. Keep practicing.

bullet

Tournaments our summer teams have attended range from local "friendly" type festivals to national, all-star competitive tournaments. Tournaments attended are at the discretion of the coaching staff, but you may be asked to commit to all or the majority of the events before securing a spot on the team.

bullet

Summer teams pay "per head" for all expenses incurred.

What does the #19 signify in the Penfield Lacrosse logo?
The #19 is used in the memory of Todd Bernhardt, a lacrosse player from Penfield who lost his life at too young an age.
